Things are looking up. Or rather, I’m seeing up…

It’s funny – when times are discouraging for me, I actually walk with my head slightly down and see, really, just a ways in front of my feet. The side lines get blotted out; the horizon is where?

Things haven’t changed much from last week. Illness still looms, still without decision, still without direction. Like many of you, I stand at one of those *unique* family crossroads, where roles can suddenly seem to go into lightening fast reversal from offspring to parent because of sickness or circumstance. Nature throws you the huge Medicine Ball and you catch it.

Heads Up!

So while everybody practices their curve balls, it seems the perfect time to be as industriously positive as possible. Now is the time to really clean my house! I have new towels and rugs for the bathrooms – a yummy mix of sage, pistachio, and greyish aqua – a refreshing and restortive palette for the wee morning hours…

I’ve got Knittin’ to do – my red CeCe cardi is almost done – a little band work and a button and she’s good to go – I am loving this Warmer weather – there’s a very pretty white cotton dress, trimmed in lace, waiting in the wings, that just might need a fresh little topper. Fashion is thy Happy Face!

Then it’s on to some pullovers – one shell (Delilah) and one T (Gwyneth) are off and running. The Gwyneth T has been on the bus with me – a teenager insisted it was a hat the other day – alrighty now…

Wishing you all a FABULOUS holiday weekend!

I’m sorry things are tough right now! I wanted to tell you though that I’m LOVING your green gallery. What great creativity! I’m completely envious of Day 16! Wish I had taken it!

Have a great weekend yourself! I’ll be cleaning as well.

Prayers, many, from the north country – can you feel them?
Keep looking up – and stand downwind of that lilac, if you can. The color & perfume, breathe deeply.

  9. Teresa says:

I know what you mean about the role-reversal thing, Bonnemarie. My mom had to make the decision this week to deed her house to me as a protective measure against future health issues. Extremely hard for her and a huge responsibility for me. Reality bites.

Here’s to a weekend of peace and rest!

BTW…I’m very close to finishing a Mondo Cable Shell I did in Lerici Color from Elann. I would have been wearing it today but I’ve been fretting and frogging due to the damn SSK’s. I’ll send you a pic when I’m done.

  10. Teresa says:

Good thoughts to you, and keep your head up to the sky-brighter days are there.

    Have a fantastic weekend!!

I just love that photo! I’ve been checking your blog this month just to see your “green” photos; all are lovely.

You and your family are in my thoughts–I usually think the “not knowing stage” is the worst part.

  13. Karen says:

I hope you are able to relax a little and enjoy your long weekend Bonne Marie.

  14. sahara says:

    Hello there!

My prayers to the ancestors and every other deity are sent for you and your mom. I totally understand. When my roles reversed, I was a sweater designer for Macy’s private label department. The, the care of susequent relatives, ending with my mom (I’m an only child) took a decade out of my life.

Knitting kept me sane, through doctors appointments, running to various service agencies, and home care. The only thing I’m resentful about, is the lack of government support towards the elderly with limited resources. Thank goodness, love, was not a limited resource.

  15. Ann says:

Much love coming to you in a bushel basket from Nashville.

  16. Chris says:

Wonderful that you’re looking up and turning the unsettledness into productive energy! Have a great weekend – and keep looking up. :)

  17. Delica says:

You have a wonderful, relaxing weekend too, Bonnie Marie – go out and do something extravagant for yourself.

  18. caroline says:

Oh, girl, I am late to the news about your mom. I send you and her and your family all love and light for healing and clarity and make it toot sweet, eh?
oh, and I send you some blue sky, too. can you see it?
    big hug.

  19. jackie says:

Wishing you the best thoughts. Hope you can have a nice holiday weekend.

  20. Heidi says:

Hey Bonne Marie, I’m thinking of you and your mom. Take care.

  21. stinkerrbell says:

I am thinking of both of you with nothing but the best thoughts. And ironically enough on the same path (though with just me myself and I in the boat) Best get back to cleaning soon!

  22. Beth S. says:

It sounds like you’re coping well. The great EZ did say to knit on with confidence through all crises, and you can’t go wrong following her advice.

May good test results be forthcoming.

  23. Cathi says:

You offer so much inspiration and new perspective to so many, Bonne Marie- I am thinking of you and your family in this difficult time. I really admire your ability to be forthright and positive during a tough time.

    xo

  24. Trudy says:

My thoughts are with you and your mom. This past month I struggled through my mom’s last illness long distance from West Virginia. It was extremely difficult and involved some very tough decisions. Try to be okay with doing the best you can.

P.S. I love the lilac photo! Since growing up in Michigan, the smell of lilacs blooming has always let me know that spring has arrived.
