it’s all about the SOX!!!

WHOssa goin’ to the World Series?

My perfect face-off, er, foot-off?, would’ve been the White SOX vs. the Red SOX! I didn’t know unitl an incredulous co-worker told me the fugly truth yesterday afternoon that that would NEVER be becasue those two teams are in the same LEAGUE. (Ooops…)

Well a league of my own would have them playing each other and just picture it – a whole stadium full of knitters making Socks, watching men hurl, scratch, and run in circles. A glorious day!

A girl can dream, can’t she?

Forget the World Series, people, we have SOCKTOBERFEST!

The lovely Lolly has started a KAL and I’ve joined…

I hope it gives me the SOCK SPIRIT to finish
all the ones I have laying around (4 onsies).

First up to bat, the wonderful Socks That Rock! This Blue Moon yarn has to be the most wonderful stuff yet! I got it at a fiber fest out in the boonies last year from the FOLD (you might’ve met ’em at Rhinebeck). The base yarn for the hand-painting is the best feeling stuff I’ve knitted with. Does anybody know what makes this so wonderful?

And then there’s the hand-painting! To really appreciate it, you have to have it in from of you in close proximity and see it’s subtleties escape the skein as you knit. This is the Garnet Dream colourway and indeed, it’s knitting up like a dream!

Sock spirit is right! You will have 4 finished pairs :) Glad you could join the group!

As a Red Sox fan who had to endure the loss while visiting your fair city a week ago (LaSalle Marathon)I’m routing for you all the way! p.s. What an absolutely beautiful city! Saw Letizia’s from a cab while bringing my son to a skateboard shop on Division.

My team the Cards are still in it, thanks to Puhols’ 3 run homer last night in the 9th. Here’s hoping we see your Socks at the World Series!
Your knittin socks look great…does the Socks That Rock have any nylon in it? Also, for first time sock knitters…do you have a pattern to recommend?

  4. Jeanie says:

Go Astros! What a heart breaker last night was :-(

  5. Kim Stalder says:

How about a White Sox vs. Cubs Series for all of you in Chicago?

  6. monica says:

See what happens when I leave Chicago?

  7. Bonne Marie says:

I was on the South Side when the White Sox took the Division! All the kids came out to the corners of their streets with the household broom and waved them in the air yelling, “Sweep! Sweep!”

All the cars going by were honking like crazy – people sitting in the open windows like they were in a parade…

(Hmmm – Sox vs Cubs? I would be so psyched but I’m afraid that might be a *when pigs fly* event! :)

  8. Marg says:

Socks Rock! Just signed on with Lolly. Purple cuffs will soon give ‘way to purple/blue/majenta bodies…

  9. Cara says:

Socks that Rock? Hmmm. Never heard of them! ;-)

My hubby is SO HAPPY about the WHITE SOX – it’s all he can talk about. He spent the first five years of his life on the South Side and this is a dream come true. (Doesn’t matter that the rest of his life has been in New Jersey!)

  10. Amanda says:

Go Sox!! My mom and I tried to get tickets this afternoon when they went on sale–no luck. I’m not sure I can stomach spending upwards of $1200 on tickets. Instead, I’ll sit in front of the HD 52″ TV and knit on some socks. Think of the sock yarn I could buy with the $$$ I saved!

    Did I mention Go Sox!?

  11. Bonne Marie says:

Those tickets sold out in 18 minutes!

We should all watch the games and KNIT KNIT KNIT some SOX!

  12. maryse says:

if the red sox couldn’t do it this year, i’m rooting for the other sox to do it for them. congratulations on making it to the world series. and good luck.

  13. Cathi says:

I was going to say the same, about a Sox/Cubs series….bring on the El Series, boo to the Subway Series. :P

  14. Kathy says:

Red Sox lost to a good team! Go White Sox! Beat those Astros or Cardinals!

  15. Laurie says:

Yes, the Blue Moon stuff is truly the end all be all. And the gal who does the dying is the nicest gal to boot!

  16. Stacey says:

off topic I know….Love the new hair. great cut great color.

  17. christine says:

Hi from another Chicago knitter! I absolutely love the STR yarn, too. Love it so much that my only request for my birthday last year was a visit to the Fold, so that I could see all the colors in person. It’s really worth the trip to make the drive to Marengo.
