under the Christmas YumYum Tree

A Secret Pal sent me this WONDERFUL Baby Alpaca Yarn!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

It is so buttery and yummy and bulky that it almost made me faint when I opened the package – AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH…

DESTINY’s Child: a Hat and Scarf Set Extraordinaire

Did you ever get *colorized* (teeheehee)? I am a WINTER :) The color artiste who was draping me with huge fabric swatches told me I would always look the best in…

and it is, TRUE~!

When I wear that color, it brings out all the natural *makeup* Mother Nature painted my face with. A touch of lipstick and I’m good to go. OH – how I love that – some of us just want to be BABES without all the High & Mighty Maintenence…

This Alpaca is in the same beautiful BlueRed Color Family and will make my skin BLOOM like a little rose in June…

Lucky you – that yarn is great – I got some for Christmas and have knitted the front of a cable sweater – soooo soft!!! What do you mean by a “Secret Pal” I’m new to the whole knit blog thing and some of the lingo has me confused.
    Have fun knitting pink !!

  4. that yarn looks like cotton candy…i just want to touch it! nice to get another look at your version of the wavy bulb sweater — beautiful. i love shirley paden’s stuff; i want to take her design course next year.

  5. Corinne says:

I was colorized a long time ago. I’ve been told that most people are Winter.

Get out! Did they give you the Fuschia rap!?

Hi Kate! Welcome to the wonders of Blogging! My secret pal is just a local friend who gifted me anonymously – no lingo here :) just generous folk. There have been Secret Pal exchanges online – I’m not sure if any are going around now…

    Hi Bonne Marie,

I got black and hve just about finished a cable sweater. It actually freaks me out a little when I read your blog how much of the same things we are either knitting or reading!! Cool but freaky I guess. I gtt a felting book from my knitty sister for christmas – I have failed miserably at the whole “felting” thing in the past and now after reading the book I think it is due to the fact that I have a front load washer and therefore no agitator. Felting will be the next thing I tackle using my Mum’s washer this time. I must get back to work – it’s warming up here in Toronto woowhoo break out the bikinis (well not quite) but I can take a layer or two off.

Hey, I love that baby alpaca! I used about a skein and a hlf of it to make this for a friend for Christmas:

She loved it, and I loved knitting it!

  9. Bonne Marie says:

Marlena! You’ve inspired me with your beautiful work! YUM!

  10. Dani says:

I figured out my own colors from the book in the late ’80s and decided that I was a Winter, too :-). I get the most compliments when I wear jewel tones like purple and royal blue.

  11. Julia says:

I just picked up a few skeins of that yarn – it’s amazing!

  12. Sharlene says:

OOh, I just made the “Knitting on the Edge” cover scarf using this yarn and it is SO soft and wonderful. You will adore your scarf made of this stuff.
