Chic Knits Knitting Patterns

More digging in the stash, this time cotton diving. Up next? A Sandrine pulli for the wardrobe!

I have some taupe DK set aside for this as well, but decided to get some stitches on line with some early Spring fun. This is off-white Sirdar BREEZE, a cotton microfiber blend that works really well for wearability. I find it easy to knit, it has a little sproing and tension in the strand, which makes it keep gauge better than some summer yarns. I made a BCPulli out of it last season and it looks great and fits well — less stretching and growing after the knit is done.

Which of course, is much different than After the Final Rose. Being in thrall to Cabin Fever is making me do all sorts of things not normally in my agenda: watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette (?) no, not that. But somehow, there I was on Monday night, spying the aftermath of same, billed “the most shocking twist in Bachelor history.”

HUH? From what my friends tell me this series is an extremely choreographed “reality” house party with lots of drinking, naughty accusations ((She’s a B! What the… She’s in the hot tub AGAIN topless!) Now I’ve been in a hot tub once (in California) but only my Midwest two piece was showing) and what about those really *deep* really dipped, sprayed tans.

We won’t even mention the bad *grills*.

Even the smarmy set, the hundreds of flickering mini-candles and flowers, did not ward me off. I fell down the rabbit hole headfirst anyway. Much later, I was wondering HOW any of the players could keep a straight face for even a microsecond and decided THAT was why it was so compelling even though it was so very bizarre.

Hey! I am the first one to admit that being fickle is not such a bad thing. As someone with Startitis AND a trunk full of WIP, who can talk. What’s on your needles?

My 2nd Basic chic hoodie, this time with Lamb’s Pride verigated pink. It was my valentine’s day gift, for letting my DH go skiing in Steamboat with the guys. I love the pattern and will buy the Sandrine next, kinda scared of DK.

  2. Patty says:

I think Sandrine is going on the needles right after I put in my card number! So you won’t think poorly of me when I acknowledge sitting drop jawed during Real New York Housewives? :-)

  3. Stephanie says:

Sandrine is on my needles! Although, not as pretty- and perfect-looking as your current start. It’s my first sweater in cotton (elann Sonata). I’ve come to a forced stopping point as I don’t have #5 DPNs at the moment to connect the crossed over fronts. None available at my local stores and so had to go online. Waiting (impatiently) for the mailman…..

  4. Carrie says:

While doing recovery discs for my new laptop last night, I fell into the two (!) hour America’s Next Top Model. Creep skinny girls, cat fight, tears of joy, tears of denial-it was great to do nothing for a while!

  5. Susan says:

Sandrine cardi is on my needles at the moment with a mod–finger weight instead of DK, merino instead of cotton. So far, so good. I’m thinking I really need to do the Sandrine pulli in cotton, and love the sound of the cotton you have on your needles. Any tips on using cotton for garments?

  6. Lisa says:

Ariann just came OFF the needles last night, ends are woven in and it’s waiting for a trip to the ironing board for steaming!! In the process of choosing yarn for Sandrine — in a short sleeve version. Love my Aleita so I know I will LOVE Sandrine.

  7. Finishing off socks and a Lace Ribbon scarf, and then I have all the fixings for another CeCe. This time, long sleeve and burgundy in a cotton/wool. Just in time for summer. I’ll never finish by spring. I just don’t have the knitting chops that you do….. Sandrine has really gotten my attention though.

  8. Jennifer says:

I’ve got two pair of socks and a cabled sweater for my daughter. I’m daydreaming about my spring sweater projects too!

  9. emeselle says:

A lovely orange CeCe and a tweedy sweet-potato cardigan. I’m hoping to finish CeCe for a bridal shower at the end of March. And then, I’ll start my first pair of socks.

  10. Bonne Marie says:

OMG! I have so much catching up to do on the Reality TV front! I have seen the promos for New York Housewives (and the Atlanta(?) one?) and it looks SPICY! How I wish I could even get the energy to maintain my manicure the way these ladies seem to…

    AND THE hair.

So many cool projects going on!! (BTW, don’t be afraid of DK because it isn’t afraid of YOU ;p)

  11. Laura K says:

I’m in full-on Chicknits mode: finishing up Arianne (and praying that I don’t run out out yarn now that I decided to lengthen the sleeves) and just finished the brim on Westside (brilliant visor design!)

  12. Gaile says:

Sirdar Breeze is one of my favourite yarns. I wish it hadn’t been discontinued. I think it’s the perfect yarn for your project.

  13. Bonne Marie says:

WHAT! Another basic gone babye? I was hoping to get more cream color…

I’d like to try some Plymouth Jeannee DK. They might be similar

  14. Julianna says:

I’m finishing up a kidsilk scarf…the last of this year’s winter projects. Then on to summer knitting.

  15. Cousin Amy says:

    Hey there Cuz!
Love your patterns! When Aunt Joan was in the hospital a few weeks ago, we spent HOURS pouring over your blog. We were drooling over the beauty and color choices of your creations….especially the purple/lavender ones!
AJ was so touched by your gift of creativity…she said numerous times how very talented you are! I wish you could have been there to see her reaction.
My thoughts were….my birthday is 7/10 and I hope you send me an original from your ’09 Fall Collection. I would be happy to model it for you here in Michigan. :)
    Sending much love,
    Amy and Aunt Joan
