  Monday Morning Mirth

Betsy writes: “You have a thing for Snape don’t you! In the novel Sense and Sensibility, Colonel Brandon isn’t all that good looking, but we all know that good looks are in the eye of the beholder.”

Hmm – well, I had a thing for Alan Rickman loooong before HP, etc. Here’s a music video to consider (especially the part at the gas station…)

Alan Rickman is hot stuff! Colonel Brandon still elicits a “GUH!” from me every time I see S&S. ;)

  2. Jill Smith says:

Oh, he’s so dreamy. I watched that video many, many times when it came out.

  3. Becky says:

Oh how I so wish that I could rest my head on Alan Rickman’s shoulder!

  4. pixie says:

He was such a great badguy in die hard. It’s hard to see that video after seeing him as snape ll but I suppose if I hadn’t seen him as snape it would be different lol.

  5. Jocelyn says:

I’m with Becky! I’d rest my shoulder on AR’s head anytime. I never wanted to dance in a gas station before, but now…

Time to go watch Love Actually for the 10th time!

  6. Elizabeth says:

Love the video – never thought I’d see Alan Rickman do the tango! He’s one of the few celebrities I’ve seen in person – during the interval at a play in a small theatre in north London. He was hanging out with some friends by the bar, and my friend and I went totally giggly when we saw him. We kind of stalked him for most of the interval, and hopefully he didn’t see us, because we were being completely dorky. Of course I didn’t even remotely have the guts to go up to him…

  7. Carol says:

Well I live in the wrong country, folks don’t do that in our gas stations! We only see recodings of hold ups ;) I wish I new the words, the music was beautiful!

  8. Agnes says:

I agree … he is a superb actor … both my husband and I love him. I was espcially excited to see him in “Love, Actually”. He is one of those actors who can bring any role he plays into real life.

  9. Toby Wollin says:

AR is one of those actors with “the voice”. I still think the best line in S&S is “The air is full of spices.” He injects that line with all sorts of don’t even WANT to think about it. Shoot – I’d pay money to just listen to him read out of a phone book.

  10. Andi says:

I saw Alan Rickman perform on stage. I was in NYC with my mom and aunt, and I wanted to see Rent. They got tickets to see Private Lives instead, and I was annoyed. But when we got to the theater and I saw he was in it, oh, was I a happy girl!

  11. Hissyfit says:

Oh I love Alan Rickman! When I was a senior in college I took a trip to London and got to see him on stage in Dangerous Liaisons. He was just incredible. When the movie came out I remember thinking how much sexier he was in that role than John Malkovitch (although I like him too). I even liked him as the voice of the robot in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Great video!

  12. Alynda says:

I’m with all of you on Alan Rickman. I think it was “Truly, Madly, Deeply” that set it off for me!

  13. meg says:

Holey smokes, as if it weren’t hot enough already! Have mercy – some of us don’t have a/c!

  14. Leah says:

Yum! Thanks for that little afternoon delight.

  15. Leslie - knitting therapist says:

    Oh my! (fan, fan)
Hottest man with a weak chin, ever. One of the hottest men with one of the hottest voices, ever. Right up there with Patrick Stewart, IMO.
Something about those eyes, too – that austere look…
    Oh my!

  16. lourdes says:

Dear Lord that man is hot! He can’t even help it he just ooooozzzzeeessss hotness!

  17. Laurie says:

He just Works. I don’t know what it is (combination of the voice and the eye gaze?) but what a fantastic illustration of damned the pretty boy, give me some Rickman!

  18. Susan says:

O…. M… G…. YES! From another Alan Rickman devotee to another… THANK YOU!!!

    *pant pant*

  19. maggi says:

Me too ~ LONG time fan! I saw him in Liaisons Dangereuses in New York and remember that a reviewer wrote that “there wasn’t a dry seat in the house”!

  20. Angela says:

I wonder if Alan Rickman has any idea of the effect he has on this particular bunch of knitters. Thanks for this little something special to take my mind off my stressful day.

  21. tllgrrl says:

  25. Jenn says:

Ohhhh, Alan Rickman! Thank you! And the Miss Dashwood is loverly! Did you know that there’s a baby hat with the same name on Knitty? It’s cute.

  26. Judy says:

O yeah. Love me some AR Damn!

  27. kimchi says:

hmmm…i feel the same thing as you do about Snape…and AR reminds me of Ciaran Hinds in the Jane Austen movie, Persuasion. i love CH in that movie…reminds me so much of Col.Brandon in S&S and also of how a personality shines thru and makes a person so very attractive!!! :o)
ahhh, yes, those gentlemanly gentlemen…i love them so! heehee!
    p.s. love the M.Dashwood!
