This yarn is like walking through my neighborhood in a few weeks when the fresh young green shoots start peaking through the ground. Soon comes the purple crocus and new moss on the stepping stones, previews of beloved poppies in June.

Wholesome. Delightful!

SCREECH!

Back to the real world where the enormous excitement of a condo association meeting caps off a busy workday and my friend, it’s just not enough to bring me around. I need double doses of FLASH these waning grey days of winter and where else to turn on a late eve?

T.E.L.E.V.I.S.I.O.N.

Who says TV can’t be a lightbox in the battle with SADD?

And I tell you, I turned to, gasp, “The Search For the Next Doll”! I needed empowerment, excitement, galore! According to the New York Times and the SFND producers, I was gonna get it!

But

You’ve gone really far on yours–I’m only about 4 inches into the cuffs on my Garnet Dream.

  2. LaurieM says:

Your poll was missing the “F#ck No!” option. I settled for “Nay”.

  3. Marlena says:

Seeing as I can neither sing nor dance, I would rather be America’s Next Top Model, thanks. That’s what I watched last night!

  4. Wannietta says:

I said Yes, but in reality I’m a Doll in my heart. I’d have to be 10 (okay, 15) years younger, 50lbs lighter, not so freakin’ tone deaf (I’ve cracked shower tiles, but I’m an incorrigible shower Diva) and some (okay … a lot) more rhythm (I’m way too white to be shakin’ my $$$ makah’ in public!!).

What yarn is that in your socks? It’s lovely.

  5. leslie says:

I have to agree with both LaurieM about forgetting one important option and Marlena for watching AMTM! Way to old & fat to be ANTM but we are hooked on the show. Love fashion, thats why I knit and sew…

Also love the sock yarn color way! you are so right, it does remind me of crocus in bloom, poppies in the summer and a different kind of moss, but yes moss.

  6. Tracey says:

Love that colorway, gotta love those geniuses at STR. It reaks of spring, and we all need that shot in the arm right about now, especially those of us who suffer from SADD. I hate that, actually, since I moved to PA, it’s been a lot easier to deal with this year. Shorter winter and all. Yay!
As far as being a pussycat doll? Um, I think I’d rather stick my head in a bucket full of clorox and inhale deeply. Sorry Lil’Kim.

  7. amisha says:

i love your description of this colorway. shoots coming through the ground… beautiful.
the pussycat dolls are beyond disturbing. can’t even think about it.

  8. Patty says:

The sock is beautiful…and don’t think the men in my house missed a glimpse at the dolls! Pure surfing heaven for them I’m certain!

  9. Sonya says:

Yes, I watched it – no cable, what’s a knitter to do. I don’t think I can call it a guilty pleasure though. I do not understand the female empowermant angle, but the “virus” part was classic – “Well she has a ‘virus’ and if we get it then it will hurt out chances.” Quick, it’s catching.

  10. Janet says:

My husband’s question: why do all these young girls want to compete to be pole dancers? but all the same, great bad reality tv.

  11. angela says:

    LOVE the colorway! Fantastic!

  12. Spike says:

I have the diva nature, but can’t carry a tune in a bucket, using both hands. However, vis a vis the Pussycat Dolls, that seems to be SECONDARY!!

Does anyone else hear murmurings of “You’ve come a loooooong way, baby” in their psychic ears when they hear of _empowerment_ that consists of looking like a $20 hooker, and acting like a two-year old? How exactly is this empowering?

  13. Carol says:

The sock is gorgeous! Are we still fighting for equal rights or something?

  14. Susan says:

I loved your socks and the description of the colorway! Is that the 56 stitch, 56 row sock pattern?
Do you know anyone who has any of the moss agate in stock? It matches all my spring clothes – i.e. jean and….tops.
I have to agree with the more radical comments on the show I hadn’t heard of. As a 70′s feminist who wouldn’t have joined a sorority back then no matter what because they’re just like they are today. Can’t believe it took so long to kick them off any campuses.
